Opening statements and testimony began Wednesday in the trial of 21-year-old Malaki Scott Beckham, accused of killing two 19-year-old men in New Boston in July 2024.
Beckham faces two counts of capital murder in the shooting deaths of Princeton Washington Jr. and Nicholas Webster. Investigators say Beckham and co-defendant Rondarrius “DaeDae” Evans were seen fleeing the scene on Hoskins Street and that Beckham was caught on home security video leaving in a car registered to one of the victims. Prosecutors allege the killings happened during a robbery.
If convicted, Beckham faces life in prison without parole. Testimony continues Thursday at the Bowie County Courthouse in New Boston.
