A tense standoff in Bowie County ended Thursday night with the arrest of a Texarkana man accused of assaulting his elderly parents. Deputies say 50-year-old Michael Casey Dodson attacked his parents at their home on Danube Avenue, then barricaded himself upstairs when officers arrived.
Authorities believed Dodson was armed, and crisis negotiators spent hours trying to get him to surrender. When he refused, the Texarkana Texas Police SWAT team used a chemical agent. Dodson tried to escape through the attic but fell through the ceiling to the first floor, where he was arrested without further incident.
He’s charged with two counts of Injury to an Elderly Individual–Family Violence and one count of Interference with an Emergency Call. His bond was not set as of Friday.
