The cities of Texarkana, Texas and Arkansas have received a $500,000 grant from the EPA’s Brownfields Program to assess and redevelop underused properties across the Stateline.

The Community-Wide Assessment Grant will fund environmental assessments, cleanup planning, and community engagement. City officials say the project will help transform abandoned sites into clean, viable spaces for new development.

Grants Manager Daphnea Ryan said the partnership removes barriers to growth by addressing environmental concerns. Mayors Bob Bruggeman and Allen Brown praised the joint effort, calling it a major step toward a healthier, more sustainable Texarkana.
