Officers responded to an alarm around 1:45 a.m. at a store in the 2400 block of South Lake Drive, where a window had been broken with a rock. Surveillance video showed four suspects dressed in black breaking into the business.
A witness reported seeing the suspects running toward the nearby Sunset Apartments. An officer responding to the area spotted three individuals matching the description. When approached, they fled on foot.
One suspect, identified as 18-year-old Demaure Heard, was found hiding under a parked vehicle and taken into custody.
Police say evidence, including glass fragments found in his shoes, linked him to the burglary.
Heard was charged with burglary of a building and evading detention. He is being held in the Bi-State Jail on a total bond of $30,000.
