A man is behind bars after police say he intentionally hit a pedestrian in a church parking lot last weekend in Texarkana.
According to court records, 32-year-old Patrick Cridell Jr. allegedly swerved into the lot at Freedom Grace Fellowship Church on Sunday evening, accelerated, and struck the victim. The injured man managed to crawl across the street to Highland Park Elementary, where he was found the next day.
He remains in a vegetative state with a brain bleed and traumatic head injury, according to an affidavit.
Police found Cridell’s vehicle Monday, showing damage consistent with surveillance footage, including a broken windshield and a shoe mark on the hood.
Cridell is being held in the Bowie County Jail on a $200,000 bond, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. If convicted, he faces two to 20 years in prison.
