The Texarkana, Arkansas Advertising and Promotion Commission approved more than 226-thousand dollars in event funding this week, including 181-thousand dollars for five events at Big Dam Water Park.
The agreement includes a revenue-sharing plan that sends event profits over 20-thousand dollars back to the commission.
Commissioners also moved 750-thousand dollars from a paused bond project back into fund balance for future use.
The board approved 45-thousand dollars for a planned Clint Black concert at Festival Plaza in September, despite questions about the performer’s booking status.
Some residents criticized the funding decisions, calling the water park deal unfair after other groups were previously denied funding.
