Texarkana Arkansas Police are warning the public about a new WhatsApp phone scam known as vishing. Victims receive a call from an unknown number with a robotic voice asking them to add another number to their contacts. The call then ends abruptly.
Police say this is a test by scammers. If you add the number, they may target you later—trying to steal your WhatsApp verification code and hijack your account. They could use it to scam your contacts or demand money to return access.
To stay safe: never add unknown numbers, enable two-step authentication, and always report suspicious calls or messages.
