A Simms, Texas, man has been convicted on multiple animal cruelty charges after prosecutors said he killed several dogs and left their bodies to decompose on his property.
A Bowie County jury found Stuart Hammonds guilty on nine counts following a two-day trial. Investigators say deputies discovered the remains of numerous dogs in October 2024, with several suffering gunshot wounds. Prosecutors said the killings followed an argument with his girlfriend.
Hammonds was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with the nine sentences to be served at the same time.
