The Miller County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam involving a caller posing as law enforcement.
Officials say the scam caller may appear as “No Caller ID” and may provide a callback number of 719-356-6081. The caller reportedly claims to be “Sgt. Callaway” with a so-called “Civil Service Division” and may tell victims they owe a fine or have an active warrant.
Authorities say the caller is using names of multiple counties, states, and judges, including some who do not work in the jurisdictions being referenced.
The sheriff’s office says there is no employee by the name of Sgt. Callaway and confirms the calls are fraudulent.
Residents are urged not to provide personal information or payment and to report suspicious calls to law enforcement.
